How to create stories for your company

Our Employer Branding is so much better when your future colleagues can hear what it's like to work here from you, rather than "the company".

After having worked with employee testimonial videos for several years, Gobi Stories have made a guide to make it super easy to get started creating authentic video tesimonials.
‍
It's usually a bit tricky the first couple of times, but if you give it a shot it's gets easier for every take! It's also a lot more fun than you would imagine.

This simple guide can be useful to get started.
So - what about trying? Just film some chapters, and send it to your contact person within recruitment/Employer Branding.

Good luck!

To get started, here are some real life examples from real companies that can be nice to use as inspiration.

Film with your mobile phone

You do not need expensive equipment to create good videos anymore. The mobile camera is more than good enough.
Hold your phone vertically: The most efficient format i 9:16 across all platforms. This is extremely important to remember, especially now that up to 80% of the online traffic is mobile.
Film yourself, or get help: You can simply film yourself with the front camera, or ask a colleague for assistance. It's surprisingly simple to create video together with others.
Move around through the story: If you can, try to showcase different rooms or areas to create a more engaging story.
See how well Karina from WiderĂže solves this. Not only does she go straight to the point, but she's also able to create an authentic video to showcase a regular day without being attached to a manuscript.

Straight to the point

Skip the manuscript and intros and go straight to the point. Long intros only make the viewers lose interest, they want to dive into the video as soon as possible.
Go straight to the point
Be honest and authentic
Skipping the manuscript makes it feel more natural
Astrid goes through all the important steps in her story. You can see how naturally she talks about what she likes with her job, both the things outside her job description, but also the tools she likes to work with.

What do you enjoy?

What is your favorite part about your job? Is it your colleagues, the tech stack, or the fact that your able to travel? It doesn't really matter what it is, as long as you genuinely enjoy it. That's authenticity.
Find something you know a lot about
That way, you can be more natural and create a connection with the viewer
Create a list of some things you want to get into through the video
Stian is a professional storyteller, and is able to captivate the audience with short and to the point video chapters.

Length

A good framework to create an engaging story.
Keep every chapter under 15 seconds
Keep the number of chapters beneath 15
This is the suggested maximum length, but even shorter videos are also great!
We guess that the Maritech employees often get the question - What do you actually do? And here you have the answer, through a fun and engaging video story where we see their culture clearly.

Good questions

Find 3-5 good questions that you would've asked yourself if you know what you do today. These can be about a regular day at work, what it's like to be new, or whatever you feel is relevant.

Let’s go
